== This real story on acts of kindness was written by a generous friend. Thanks for sharing! ==

In many parts of the world, there are different kinds of natural disasters that people experience. These disasters can take away lives without notifying people.

Years ago, there was a serious earthquake occurring in China. Thousands of people died and countless people were injured. There were a lot of people who lost their home and there was a story which reminds us about the kindness that people can have.

A volunteer worked in the city where the earthquake occurred. He was a very kind person. He quitted his job and became a volunteer to work in those rural areas in China. His main duty was to educate those children about language and some other basic life skills.

When the earthquake occurred, he ran away from the building where he was located. The building was a childcare center, where there were a lot of children at the time when the earthquake occurred. Instead of staying away in some open areas and protecting his own life, the volunteer ran back to the childcare center and tried to save the life of other children. He went to the center and brought the children to the open area where it would be safe for people to stay. After running to and from the center several time, he was about to save all the children.

During the last attempt to the childcare center, there was aftershock. The shock was a strong one compared with some other which happened already. As a result, he was trapped by some collapsed concrete. When some other staff of the childcare center tried to come over to offer help, he told the staff to save the kids first. Therefore, the staff brought the last few kids to the safe area. But when the staff wanted to come back to save this volunteer, the building further collapsed and he died in the building.

Love is not about calculation and money. In the contemporary world, a lot of people use money to value a marriage and love. They would try to see if their boyfriends or girlfriends are rich or poor. People in a family would try to have a lot of arguments and quarrels when it comes to monetary disputes.

But the story reminds us that love can occur naturally, without calculation and money matters. A volunteer can travel all along the districts and provinces to help children. And when emergencies occur, the volunteer can still care for the children instead of himself. This type of behavior is something that modern people lack and this is something that we should be shameful of. Instead of spending the time to argue with others about whether doing something is beneficial or profitable, people should try to spend their time to find the real meaning of their life and they should try to pursue something that they value and treasure. Everybody actually has a mind to love the others. As long as people are willing to unlock this love, it would be able to help a lot of people in the world.
