I think we all like helping, but sometimes we just need to help ourselves too. Don't worry about doing whatever you can to make sure your life is happy. It is all about the pursuit of happiness and I personally will follow that motto. I will gladly help others on the way to said motto, but it doesn't hurt to help yourself either.
