I have two friends who do more for families in need of food than any people I’ve ever met. Each week they deliver day old breads, cakes, canned food, and more to needy families and watching the happiness on their faces as they do this, and the happiness on the faces of the families they help each week is really wonderful.
They’ve been doing this for years now, and despite some health problems that they have had over the years, it has not stopped them one bit. They always make sure that the families that depend on that food get what they need. If they can’t deliver it themselves, they make sure someone does.
These are two of the nicest guys I’ve ever met and they both have a heart for giving that is rare these days. So often people get buried in their own problems and forget that there are people much worse off than they are and that they have a lot to be grateful for.
I was actually a recipient of their food delivery for awhile when I first became a single mom. I have 8 kids and things were beyond difficult. There they were, every week, helping us and the kids were always so excited to see them because they were fun and nice and of course they always brought the kids special treats from the bakeries they got their stuff from.
It’s a time I won’t forget and because of their generosity, I myself have helped deliver to the families they help when they couldn’t. It’s something I have always admired them for and truly believe in. (helping others when you can) I wish more people would think about others, especially this time of year, but actually need happens all year long, and there are so many people struggling.
It feels good to be able to give back and pay it forward when I was once in that position myself and getting help from two great guys who think of others before themselves all the time. They are so humble and unassuming and actually get embarrassed when you make a big deal about what they do. They're not in it for how it makes them look, they do it because they love to help people and that shows.
